Points for Membership, and other stuff

Few things about points that bug people:

- You stop collecting them. There's a max you hit by blogging, uploading pics, posting in the advice lines. The only way to keep getting points is to get friends to sign up, or be a kick-ass bling maker.

- Using your points towards a membership required you to confirm your ID. Confirming your ID requires you send us a copy of your license or photo ID, and many people just aren't comfortable doing that.

Changes we are going to make:

- We are going to change this in the coming months. First off, we are going to eliminate the need to confirm ID in order to use your points towards a membership. This should make points much more valuable.

- We are going to find ways for you to keep collecting points. We do not want people spamming the advice lines for points, so there will still be limits (monthly limits). Instead, we will probably give you points for other activities.

Couple questions for you standards:

1) As a standard, what would you want to use your points toward? We already have membership and viewing profiles already in development. What else, emailing members, viewing videos, adding photos in posts?

2) What ways do you think you would like to earn points? What if you earned a point when you replied to an email, or a point when you added a friend?

Let me know what you think.

1) I assumed I was using my points for emails and viewing profiles - no? Membership upgrade would probably be all I would use them for, other than that - and that would give me those features, along with some others. Being able to write testimonials, perhaps, now that standards are no longer able to do so?

2)I'm not sure how I earn points as it is - can you clarify that? I wouldn't think earning them for adding a friend would be a good thing - it would make that an utterly useless feature, IMHO.

For answering emails makes more sense, assuming you can discount auto-replies in that, and assuming you can earn more points answering emails than you use up in answering them - otherwise, it's a null sum game.

cheers

magna

Agree on the auto reply emails. Can't count those.

As a blogger, I would be gratified to be able to use the "see where I'm quoted" feature. It would help keep conversations going over time, making for a richer blogging community.

Thank you, and

blog on!

I was one who was never comfortable confirming ID to get membership... I did all the things necessary to get 1 months gold and then at the end, when I found out about the confirming ID left it (it was not particularly made clear to me before I began the process that confirming ID would be required - I think that it only appeared on the screen once I had collected enough points).

Right now, because I am Gold, I use the points to give flowers... when I was not gold I would use the points to view profiles and send mail.

I agree that there should be monthly totals as opposed to totals that just run out forever, as it would reward people who use and are active on the site (the present system punishes people who use the site as they get their points and use them quickly and then that it that), however how you make sure that that activity is useful activity and not just going through the motions in order to get the points, I do not know...

E-mail response is a good one as it would encourage people to reply to every e-mail, even if only to refuse (hopefully politely).

I think that points should also be awarded for doing something that contributes to the general community of the site, so reporting multi-profilers or spammers. Obviously the points would have to be pending some sort of investigation else idiots would just report everyone...

Points awarded for blogging and article writing and Advice Lining is good, but traditionally encourages eejits to write shite, and I think that that is going to be a open to abuse no matter what you do... so, for instance, if you linked the points awarded to positive votes then people would increase their production of fake profiles in order to boost their votes (something similar to the MMR)... if you made the points pending approval from an AdultFriendFinder editor then you would have to tighten up the editing and pending process so that they actually read and adjudicated the piece and that would punish some comedians.

It is a difficult and I do not envy you at all. Good that this is being looked at though.

Cheers.

MOST of this is great.. but the part about "encouraging people to reply even with a polite no thank you"... is not going to reduce AT ALL the ones that then REPLY to that polite no thank you with "well you fat b*tch, skank, ugly whore.. go f*ck yourself". TRULY we have NO CLUE which of you are going to do that or not... so that is why MANY don't answer messages. We were hot and fantastic TILL... we said no. Block and delete ONLY works AFTER we have been called everything but human. I KNOW that there is no way to definitively stop that, but just making a point, this may or may NOT help getting answers for the men, and it may or may NOT affect just how many hateful messages we get to our no thank you replies.

ORIGINALLY you didn't need confirm ID and in todays day of stolen identity this is NOT a good idea to have people sending photocopies of a DL to anyone. So I am glad you are changing this for the point system.

I don't mind the idea at all of using the points to buy a messages to send, but do not have it override anyones preferences i.e. if they don't want emails from X group etc...

DEFINITELY I like the idea of using the points to be able to VIEW more pictures on someone's profile. I AGREE that many are using that infamous cock shot and so many women want to see your FACE!! Quasimodo had a dick, and we know you are proud of it, but your FACE and the rest of you MAY be the make or break even if you don't want to hear that.. sorry.

And DEFINITELY if you are going to have points reassessed at the end of a month so we can get more.. PLEASE have a limit and DEFINITELY something that it "must" be a question, not one of those "." posts in the magazine/blogs/groups. Truly those of us who ARE here using those and being active members of the community CAN use that.

HET MYSTIC!!! LTNS...

The only reason I am not in favor of this, I HAVE had some come back and be REALLY polite, and they do chat and have actually changed their approach, asked for tips on the site, or help with their profile. I LOVE helping out when I can.

SADLY.. there is no way to know WHO will actually be polite.. or who will do this.. as I GOT THIS TODAY for just saying politely 'no thank you' (yes I blogged the entire thing at my blog of A polite No Thank You can cause thiswupdates )...

*** i didnt read your fucking profile bitch i was just being nice i am a perfect gentleman untill a cunt like u sets me off !!!!!!!because of a simple flirt u need to grow up and either get off the drugs or get on some heavier ones .... get a fuckin life and if u dont want people to talk or send u anything unsubcribe asshole... ***

I never said I didn't want to 'talk' to people, but I am NOT required to f*ck everyone. As I am 'not available for meetings/dates' I don't want to 'flirt' via messages either.

SADEST PART.. good people suffer because of guys like this.

GREAT IDEA MYSTIC

It would definitely help out the recipient to make a better decision of they can see MORE of what is there becauses someone 'contacted them' and they are just standard. Excellent idea.

I paid for quite a while as I became increasingly dissatisfied and finally stopped subscribing. That the site is actually inquiring about what standard members would reasonably expect is refreshing.

When I did pay, I viewed cams, videos, tried chat, looked at lots of profiles. I saw many pay to view cam girls advertising their wares, having some email addy printed on their cam view or holding up a hand written sign sign, violating the Terms of Use while asking other people to violate the Terms of Use of the site. I did report many. Profile gender not matching the view presented by the cam. Not as serious to me, but something the broadcaster should be aware of and fix. In chat, I saw much offensive speech, but I did not consider it to be credible threats, just the ranting of immature shitheads. In the Advice Lines, I see people asking three word questions about dick size or whether or not to post a cock shot as a main pic. Some seem to be new and not have spent much time becoming familiar with the site. Some post racial questions that to me seem insulting.

As a gold member, I expected better. As I spent time on the site, my expectations were lowered, and after inquiring how to reduce my membership from gold to silver to make my payments more closely match my expectations, by expectations were further lowered. So I am now the target audience of your post, a Standard member.

I like the idea of a way to continue to gather points by being active in things that presently have limits. The number of pix that can be put on a profile has recently been increased. I could still get some points for posting a few more pix because I haven't maxed that out yet. A/L comments and votes, maxed out quite a while back. I'll send the site a pic of my driver licensce when the site provides me with a company vehicle. My passport when they want to pay for my travels. Confirm ID is no incentive for me to send vital data to the site. Bling making seems more valuable to the site than blogging. There may be a good business reason for this, I don't know. Joining affiliate sites may be a good way to collect points, but I've seen complaints in that area too. The idea has been presented to have points awarded for replying to an email, and the problem that crude and rude replies might proliferate. Why not let the recipient of the replying email decide whether or not to award points for an email they got? If it's a fuck you cunt slut smelly bitch reply, why not let the reader decide? Perhaps members would be better suited for that task than the site? But that would again raise the recently removed "problem" of members rewarding other members similar to the kudo thing that was recently blown up. To me, that was a benign program that people could opt out of. People could ignore the "abuse" there as easily as a nasty email.

What would standard members use points for? When I was gold, I sent lots of flowers to standard members so they could have some points. There was nothing that I could see that gave me more features or functions on the site than my paid gold membership did. As a standard member, the last points I received were from your January post Want to Get 250 Points and Kill Some Bugs . I haven't decided on what profile to view or email to send. Ryan, I had to email you to get he points promised in that post. But at least you delivered. But points are useless unless one has enough to do something they want to do. My expectations are still low.

The site should award points for things that reduce their costs and reduce the number of entities violating the Terms of Use. The site should award points for contributing useful, interesting, or humourous content. The site should award enough points to make the feature actually useful. The site should consider instead of eliminating the voting feature on the A/L, evaluating it for a while. People that frequently post crap that others vote down might have points removed. People that make others smile might get points.

But the site, to continue to exist, needs to make money, so you should not continue to ignore paying customers. The site decided to ignore my question about how to change my memership from gold to silver. The reward the site got was the loss of a gold member, and the expense of posting my crap in places like right here. Maybe the site should eliminate standard membership. At least for males. Or maybe like kudos, simply eliminate points....Beach

The thing that bugs me most about points is that the site takes half of them when we give someone a flower. Why does the site need half our points?

It would be cool if we could get parts of membership privileges, for fewer points than a full membership would cost. I'm standard, but I have popularity privileges, so getting a full membership is a bit of a waste of points. But I would like it if I could spend points on:

- One month of the ability to view pictures in posts
- One month of the ability of unlimited emailing
- One month of the ability to respond directly in a post

If those things combined added up to less than a full gold membership, that would be cool.

ryan - for me i been a stander for a long while now like others but for me i use points to look at others profiles and to see if i want to get to know them for a friend or not and just want to do so and have to use points to do this and to email some on it takes alot of my points to do this and i do it i use to be able to leave testimonials and cant do it eirther any more ,to have points or get points to invite a person to your friends list ect . think that would be useless to me ..but to get points for making threads in group rooms and for leaving a comment i see that being fair as well ..but in the same token need to have it so its fair with the buying onces as well ..so it's not a rut roll of the stander getting everything . for cames ect not interrested in the matter at all for me self speaking there on cams . for photos used in blogs i dident know i was being charged to post my phots and have points taken away from me that to me would be wrong to do should give points for pictuers posted and for threads in blogs for stander members threads but just how i feel now to be a meber of the site if give u 900 points ect would love to be a meber of the site but in return if i run out of points guess ill have to do more replys on things in the site to build back up points to be come a member of the site ....i was going to join a while back i talked with nassyfox [nibbles i call her] and then the ones to me who are joined in as buying people have more troubles then the ones like me who are not members .the free bling on the site is a great idea cherimore think started that and there is no reason to buy bling on the site when so much of it is free but some dont know that and they buy bling . it should all be free but to be a member where doi sign upat as a stander let me know came here from cherimores blog thanks for the question hope i was use full to u and dident direct u in a diffrent way ....illkeep checking back time to time lost ...

RE: Earning points.

How about allowing members to earn points when their totals drop below a certain level .. say .. 1000 or 750. When it drops to that level or below, the "limits" are "reset" and the member can earn points again.

Hi!

"- We are going to change this in the coming months. First off, we are going to eliminate the need to confirm ID in order to use your points towards a membership. This should make points much more valuable."

This is a great idea and I agree, that the points will be more valuable.

"- We are going to find ways for you to keep collecting points. We do not want people spamming the advice lines for points, so there will still be limits (monthly limits). Instead, we will probably give you points for other activities. "

Again, a great idea. I have stopped collecting points for writing and at the moment the only way to earn additional points would probably be bling selling (which would require some hacks in order to be competitive). For sure trying to get others to sign up and so on is a hard task, so that basically means that users stop collecting points, like you wrote...
About the spamming on advice lines I do agree and I think that instead or besides the monthly limits one could consider somekind of voting/rating system, as in if a user asks a question on advice line that noone seems to like, then there is no need to reward points for him/her. The same goes for one-line advices: "I agree/disagree with all of you" . I mean users could just vote crap out and leave those people without points... This idea could go further - if someone writes something that others consider valuable, then that user will get more points - this would even be better than those pointless kudos that you removed - as in the users who add more value and are considered to be more useful by other members will get a bigger reward - more points that they can then use as they like.

"As a standard, what would you want to use your points toward?"

I personally would like to use them for sending messages to other users, if I do not have that ability at the moment, everything else is kind of secondary. For me it is important to actually establish a channel of communication with interesting people instead hanging around in here because of magazine/blog or similar things.
It would be nice to have the ability to send a message directly to someone's e-mail address. I mean some people do not log in very often. I have seen people who log in less than once a month which means that messages sent to them expire. If the message gets deliviered to their e-mail address, there might be a bigger chance of contacting the ones who are hard to catch. The good ones might only hang around in here for a short moment, out of curiosity or perhaps they are just testing, that is why it is important to have an ability to get ones message through to them as quickly and effectively as possible.

"What ways do you think you would like to earn points? "

Getting points for replying to messages sounds nice. Also getting points if you somehow manage to improve the site (reporting bugs for example). In short the more effort you put in to this site, the more you should earn...

What about getting points for logging in regularly? It is a source of frustration trying to catch people who do not log in often - their messages expire. Also users who log in more often and are more active are more useful to the site - they help to lure others to become a paying member. If you are looking at some small area, where there are not many members around and most of them are 3+ months, then what is the point of upgrading? Standard members should feel from the first day, that if they work for it, they might be actually able to use this site. If they stick around, they might upgrade in the future... If they do not upgrade but stick around anyways, they offer more choice and help to offer an incentive for others to upgrade...

Bye!

Earning points for running a cam would be nice - it gets a lot of attention, and probably encourages members to renew. Maybe something based on the number of viewers and possibly length of time spent on cam (given the number of sustained viewers to prevent abuse of this)?

Just a thought...

Also, this isn't necessarily a points thing, per se, but please bring back the treasure hunt contests! We enjoyed the challenge and the rewards of winning!

Being able to view profiles, send emails, create bling from jpegs.
Geez just being able to earn a gold membership and do the type of search I'd like would be excellent.
The recommended members link off of the hotlist is often wildly undesirable - can't figure out how those are chosen - lol.

I am totally against this. If I don't want to hear from someone again, I will exercise my option to block them myself. I don't want an automated process selecting who is blocked from contacting me at any time.

I may be a rare one on this site in that I have absolutely no one blocked in any way. Occasionally I may tire of someone in a chat room and put a temporary block on them, but usually I remove it a day or two later.

I am very adept at ignoring what others write here or dealing with it my own way if I choose to not ignore it.

Although I admit there are one or two I am giving strong consideration to throwing a block on for an indefinite period of time.

I recently managed to use up all of my points on the 'become a featured member' feature. Thus cost 50 points per day. I had over 2000 points and blew the lots because I didn't know how to turn it off. For all I know it's still active as I seem to be permanently stuck on 10 points. Does anyone know how to tell if this feature is still active and how to cancel it if it is?

As poor little standard members we have an idea for earning points.
Points for web cam broadcasting! We broadcast sometimes, & it would be great if we could earn points for every 100 viewers or something. Or earn points based on being in the top 25 being viewed.

I love the idea of 25 pts earned replying to emails.

It would be really nice if standard users could send a message to gold/siver members. You could limit them to 1 message every 5 days or even limit them to 50 characters per message. This would increase interaction among the members and perhaps entice standard members to upgrade their profiles to gold/silver because they might discover the site actually enables connections. (Why does it cost SO MUCH per month for a gold/silver member to allow a standard member to freely contact them--why can't we get the first 10 messages from 10 different standard members automatically free? Now that would make the membership more enticing as well.)
Also, what's with the Bling crap? I am a new member and clicked on the Bling Manager and couldn't even figure out how to get one I liked. Guess the site never heard of the "KISS" principle.

anything that promotes participation & contact will improve the site's performance. Free users do make up the bulk of the memberships, and encouraging them to get on-line and hang around a while will help the site immensely.
so 1 pt for longing in (up to x times per day or week) obviously somewhat limited to prevent massive point accumulation, and, yes 1 point (Plus another 20 min later for maintaining some level of activity?}would be enough to encourage more people to hang around more, adn more often

i think there should be other membership options. and lower the points needed. thought you use to have silver membership. monthly price just seem so high. use to get offers for lower discount but have not seen such an offer in a while. also wish there was a way to earn free membership another way post 2292932

Confirm ID just sent over I would say 30 and it keeps on saying you can't see my face but you clearly can so is this to her face is this department that does the Validate validating sorry is it a legit company are legit department is there a phone number to this department where you can talk to a human being and go through step by step because I have sent my ID with my face now and without close to my face holding my ID kissing my ID at the DMV all that to show that I'm a legit person and it still will not confirm it

I've been a fan of this site for years but this is just pure money making scheme. I have slow feeds and dropped connections all the time from the site not my ISP. Sometime i have to log out and back in because times are not good and this is just eating up more points o view the same person for no benefit on my part. I can't decide if I want to watch, or if the person is a tease and just scamming points until after I have used my points - it is simply not fair!

I broadcast whenever I can, am polite and have never abused another person on the sire - that simply is not to be tolerated and those that do should simply be banned, but those honest good members who do use the site properly are being penalised by this "system" or con as I like to call it. You can say - if you don't like it go somewhere else - fair comment but this is a good friendly site on the whole and we don't need points - this isn't a school/college frat competition! Go back to how it was - I know you won't but it's my personal view all the same.
